At St. Thomas’, we understand that our children are the future of the church, and we strive to provide opportunities for parishioners of all ages to know that every person in our parish family has something to offer.

Acolytes

Children in grades 3 and up (as well as adults!) are encouraged to take part in this special ministry. Acolytes assist in worship by carrying the processional cross, lighting candles, holding the Gospel book, holding candles or “torches”, assisting the priest or deacon with set up and clean up at the altar, handing the offering plates to ushers, and many other tasks as seen fit by the priest or acolyte master.

Children’s Church/Sunday School

Children’s church takes place during the regular service. Children age 2 to 8 go down to the “children’s chapel” just before the Gospel reading, and return to the service just before communion. During this time, children have a lesson that is geared toward their level of understanding, based on the day’s Gospel reading.

Sunday School takes place at 10:00am, followed by our family Rite II Service with Music at 11:00am. There are classes for children in grades 5 and below, and a Youth Group for middle school age and up. There is also adult Sunday School at this time.

VBS

Each Summer in July, St. Thomas’ hosts a week-long evening Vacation Bible School program for the whole family. The program runs from Sunday to Thursday, and features and outdoor Eucharist on the final day. Each year has a different theme, and includes music, worship, skits, crafts, snacks, and games that everyone in the family will enjoy.
